    Hey all,

So I have encountered an issue with my G73JH-A1 laptop. I was browsing the web today and all of a sudden my laptop screen went completely white and I could not do anything. So I shutdown the laptop and tried restarting. Now that I try restarting all it does is CPU fan spins for a sec then goes off, all lights come on (nothing showing up on monitor), then after 20 seconds both fans come on at full speed. Computer starts booting up normally without any video to my screen. So then I tried an external monitor and the external monitor works but the screen looks messed up with green gradient boxes across the screen. Attached is a picture of that : View image: 20121005 131340
Be advised that my external monitor is perfectly fine.

So what I have done so far (which has not fixed this problem) is taken the laptop apart to see if the LCD is connected correctly to the motherboard, and that is fine. I reconnected all the wires to see if anything was loose and that was fine. Took a look at the GPU for any overheating signs, and all looks fine there as well. Tried booting with 1 stick of RAM and still got the same issue.

Can anyone please advise me as to what the issue can be? I'm leaning towards GPU replacement, and if so can someone tell me where I can find a good priced 5870m (I believe my warranty is gone).

I would also guess GPU replacement.
I have a non-Asus 5870 available... and many others do as weel (just look at the Computer Parts section here on NBR).

Asus 5870M can sometimes be found on eBay to a decent price. Remember to check there :)

    Good Luck

Yeah the only one I can find on eBay is the $230 CAD one which I think is a bit expensive, can the non-ASUS one be used with G73?
