Hello, i am new to this forum. I have searched through other sites and have not been able to find an answer to my problem.

While playing EvE online my internet constatnly drops the internet connection, if any of you play eve you know this is a huge issue! (Especially on a fleet in Null space) anyway,

My laptop is an ASUS G73JH.

Wifi card is a Atheros AR9285 and a Atheros AR8131 PCI-E gigabit Ethernet Controller.

I turn on my laptop and upon booting to the desktop my wifi bars are grayed out with an orange sun on it. I click it and go into the Network sharing Center. At the top of the screen there is a big red X in-between the internet and my laptop. If i click this windows runs the auto fix and fixes the issue. However about 15 minutes later the internet drops connection showing that orange sun icon again with the big red X. if i click repair it repairs it again and the process continues.

I have a netgear WNDR3400. I have not changed anything other then turning off WMM in the QoS options. However i don't think this is the issue.

My drivers are up to date (I believe). I have gone into the connections list and deleted all connections that were saved and started a fresh connection.

I don't think it is my router due to my iPhone/ipad and wife's laptop/ps3 will stay connected and will not disconnect.

Does anyone know what the issue may be? I hate to do a format and re install due to having so many files needing backups etc.

Any help will be much appreciated, Thank you. :hi2:

Have you tried simply downloading the latest driver, off the manufacturer website, then uninstalling card and current driver, then rebooting and installing new driver?

If it's disconnecting and doing strange things it is most likely a driver issue. If it can't be fixed by software means it would be much easier to pick up a superior intel 6200/6205/6300 card for $20 or so, and install that. Super easy to do, all you need is a phillips screwdriver, and then you'd have better performance and range. Easier than doing a whole format and reinstall of OS which might not fix it!

Upgrading to an intel 6200 made a noticeable difference on my laptop, great value for money!
