Hello, I'm sorry if his is in the wrong spot or if it has been asked before. I've been Googling for days and can't seem to find a straight answer.
I've read posts going both ways about being able to overvolt the G73's ati GPU.
I've tried using rbe but any change to the voltage locks the clocks at 700/1000
I read somewhere that you can edit the vbios and flash with dos to get around the locked voltage, that had the same effect as using rbe to flash them.
I have also read that the voltage is hardware locked and is impossible to change without cracking out the soldering iron, which isn't something I feel is worth doing.
My temps are solid 71c with heavy load, I left furmark on for 8 hours and never went above 78c. So, there is some headroom for extra heat.![]()
Again I'm sorry if this has been answered before.
Thanks for the help!![]()

Did you repaste? :O -
G73Jh GSOD Vbios Update
in the video in the first post the dude says the numbers should change, how come they do not change when he does it? am I missing something?
Sorry to get off topic, I watched it about 7 times and was afraid i was missing something. Thanks XXscionxx -
Nope, came that way.
78c is OCed, W/O OC I don't get higher than 73c.
I Heard that the stock thermal paste can dry out after 3 months. Hopefully I can lower it even further with some as5. -

It doesn't change because he already flashed once before. Hes just saying if someone coming from stock vbios flashed those numbers would change.
I clean mine constantly too haha.

....yea after reading all of the temp stories on here it makes me feel really good....lol....just hope it stays this way....and this was my first gaming laptop so I am being very careful with it....so nice to be able to play pc games again where as before I never had a decent pc to game on....I was one of those console gamers.....now im stricly a pc gamer...

Its pretty easy, just type "dir" without quotes and then "vflash" also without quotes. It will start flashing (only takes seconds) and then it will ask you to reboot. You might have to reinstall drivers but you shouldn't have to.

Chastity confirmed with Gary and co. that there are 2 voltage levels/settings, and they're hardwired into the card. Clocks are changeable, but voltage ... nope.

Still hoping -
I am very grateful to DCx for posting what he knows. I have also read however, that it has been done. It sounds like it is impossible but I'm still hoping that someone knows something different. links would be nice
I just want to confirm that it is or is not possible.
hardwired on a chip? can the eeprom be flashed?
Thats what I thought the guy in the link I posted was talking about. It sound like he did it.

He actually is new posting around these parts, I'm not sure if it had anything to do with ASUS closing their own forum or whatnot... but anyway that's all the info I think there is about the video card's voltage limitations.

on stock clocks i was getting baterry around 1.40min max -
I never got 4 hr batter on a JH, but I did manage to squeeze out 3. And I'm glad everyone got the hardwired voltages issue resolved.
