I've reformatted my G73JH, and I've gotten everything back to before, except for one thing: the sound on my external monitor (connected via HDMI) is by default "off," and fades in any audio that is played. Anytime I go to the bottom right icon for sound and change the volume, I have to click on the volume slider multiple times over 3 seconds for any sound to play, and when it is, the sound slowly fades in. Then, if I leave alone the slider for about 1.5 seconds or so and click on it again, the volume is dimmed again, like the volume was fading from 100% to 0% after no sound was being played. This makes it so I can't hear a handful of system notification sounds, like double-clicking and opening up a folder, or the pop-up message for terminating a process in Task Manager. This also makes it so I can't hear the first 3 or so seconds of any music I play (unless I go back/was playing something before hand). However, if I change my default sound device to the laptops speakers as opposed to my monitor's, the sound works fine.

Before formatting, I took a screenshot of my device manager page, and I have nearly identical drivers and such installed (the only missing stuff are things like my printer, which shouldn't affect this sound issue). I don't have the driver versions for each thing installed, but I'm not sure that's the problem, it could be I guess. Anyone ever run into this problem?

That is very strange, as MarkS says, are you sure it's not volume leveling or a compressor/limiter on your monitor?

No, it's not a monitor feature. I was using the ATI HDMI 2.48 drivers, then I used the modded ones for installing the creative pack, and I have the problem on both drivers. Also, I hear the clicking sound of the monitor's speakers turning on upon startup (around the time the audio for the login screen should play), which I've never heard before reformatting. I don't think I hear it again until I restart my computer or after a long while
