My G73JH's power brick has been on the fritz lately. It still works but is extremely particular about the positioning of the detachable cord (from the wall to brick). Sometimes I have to sit there and play with it for 5 minutes or more before I finally seem to get good contact and power flowing. I have already tried cleaning out the sockets in the female side of the cord with a small wire brush and it didn't seem to change anything.

Does anyone know of a place to get a replacement (either OEM or third party, I am ok with either) that isn't the Asus E-Store? They are charging $90 for the 150w charger that it needs, and to me that is outrageous.

I have looked through the forums and it seems this was asked a few years back and there was a Targus model cheap that everyone seemed to like, but it seems to be discontinued and I can't find it anywhere. Hopefully someone will know of a good alternative.

possibly eBay, especially if you know how to use the search function well and have part numbers all assuming a regular search doesn't bring any up.

also sounds to me like a bad solder joint or loose connection or bad cable/wire.

$90 is pretty reasonable. You pay for a well engineered and safety certified brick that wont burn your house down or drown out all local radio traffic.

It's a risk, but it's up to you. You can look at videos on YouTube of cheap adapter tear downs.
