So now for a couple of months my sd card slot works only once per windows session. IE. I reboot and can read a sdcard fine. If i remove the card and reinsert it nothing happens like its not mounting and unmounting. Happens despite the sdcard i use.

Any help on this? I hate to reformat just to fix this. I`m thinking its a software/driver problem as it worked fine when i first got the computer. No way i am rma`n for a sdcard slot. Ive been using an external media adapter and it just gets annoying.

Try removing the card reader driver and use the generic windows one instead.
