Hi everyone. I have a G73JH with the AMD 5870M graphics card, that after a driver update the screen will no longer dim.

I know that this problem is driver related. What I am curious on, is anyone else having this problem where you can't change the backlight level? Has anyone possibly found a fix for it? Or if not what seems to be the newest driver that doesn't have this side effect?

    Thanks!

I had that happen a couple of years ago after a driver update. That was back when I used to use driversweeper before installing a new driver, rather than just installing over the top.

I think I fixed it by either installing the orignal old ASUS video driver, then the catalyst over the top. Didn't take long to fix, and as you say it's software not hardware so no drama!

Yes usually best to do that if you are doing a "clean" install. Oem originals with the latest on top.
