Could anyone please tell me if G73JH-A2 got an onboard sound card or a dedicated one?

Also a review would be deeply appreciated. Does it support 7.1?

Sound is integrated using the following hardware:

Intel HDA Controller (part of the HM55 chipset)
    - Realtek ALC269 HDA Codec (speakers/mic/digital-out)
ATI HDA Controller (part of Mobility Radeon HD 5870) (HDMI-out)

7.1 is supported via HDMI AFAIK.

    Thanks for the reply.

Does It mean I can connect a 7.1 headset into the mic out and audio out ports by the left and I would get 7.1 sound?

No, I don't believe it's wired that way, although I don't know if anyone's tried.

You should be able to get 5.1 off the headphone jack using a digital connection (mini TOSLINK plug).
