    okay so i have a G73JH BST7
    i7 740qm
    6 gig ram
    ati 5870
    1600 x 900
ive had this laptop for about 2 weeks and i love it, ran SC2 on Ultra at around 65 FPS at the start of a game and during a big battle still managed a playable 30 or so, anyways i started up SC2 today and at the start of a game i was getting only 20 FPS! and for some reason the game looked like it was on medium graphics, not ultra but they were i have Ati CCC 10.10 and have for about a week but this problem randomly started today, also i have noticed for the last week or so that i had some graphics glitches where the scanner sweep red radius would be very larger and you could only see part of it thru the ground, and same with the pylon radius, anyone else experience this problem or have a solution? I tried playn Crysis on Ultra and it still runs as it always has around 25 FPS

Have you upgraded your vBIOS to the newest version? I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make, but it's worth a shot.

    Maybe check your power setting.

    Did you hibernate or something?

Powerplay on the Asus vBios is still half broken - sometimes it doesnt clock up to high profile when it should... Nothing to do here really.

Can't you use the AMD GPU Clock tool to force the GPU to 700/1000 all the time?

Seems that would solve the problem if all you use it for is games. Perhaps overkill if you spend time surfing or write a document etc but seems like a good solution.

    Cheers,

Sometimes I have the speed problems that Hellcry reports. Since I never shut down/restart my laptop (only sleeps) this situations came often as overclock/downclock/games/batterymode as dairy routine for my unit. Sometimes the gpu speed stuck at 500/1000 and do not changes regardless goes on battery, idle or heavy games. The only way to back to normal (700/1000) is using AMD GPU Clock Tool (anyone know a shorter name for this app?).

As note, in heavy games with 500/1000 I have the same performance/playability than 700/1000... cool...

Or much like wolrd of warcraft, SC2 is a blizzard game and there servers are over taxed they have poor code monkeys and are slow to patch serious issues that plague there games. I konw for a fact that in world of warcraft that there are glitches and problem that have been unfixed in the game for the 4 years I have been playing. For most game problems I believe it to be mostly errors in the game you are playing and less of a machine error so try trolling forums of whatever game you are having problems with htey may have a fix there to solve ingmae issues.

Or just turn off powerplay and live with the higher idle temperatures (theyre high anyway with the cruddy Asus vBios), but you can be sure youre always running 700/1000.
And this isnt the games fault, its the Asus vBios, i never had this problem running the MSI vBios. GPU-z reports 100% load, but the Asus vBios doesnt react properly (doesnt react at all to be precise :p)...

The other problem is that Terran and Protoss play amazing on ultra but the creep for zerg will drop your FPS by about ~10.

Hey everyone, I updated Catalyst Version to the most recent, 10.11. (This came out today) I started SC2 and Battle.net menu was getting steady 63 FPS. Gaming started at 118-121 FPS and during battle encounters went down to 83 FPS. I play on Medium/High and I was wondering if this is normal or if the FPS is too high.

Thats exactly what I do, I don't have powerplay on, I just use amd clock tool. Follow the guide in the link below. I have two shortcuts on my desktop, one downclocks my gpu to 275 on the core and 425 on the memory any lower on the memory and it had issues coming out of hibernate. The other shortcut on my desktop has the 700 core 1000 memory stock clocks. I have also put the underclock setting shortcut in my startup folder so now when my laptop boots from a restart the underclock is applied automatically. Idle temps range from 46-48c.

I do the exact same thing for my fan profiles for my desktop.

still waiting for gary's updates on newer vBIOS... i do get the powerplay option but its been 1-2 times so far... maybe 3-5... can't remember but restart fixes it... irritating but ok... still better than having GSOD's every 10s..
