    Hey

I've had mine since May and haven't had any issues. I have done everything from reinstalling the touchpad drivers to reimaging the computer still nothing. My thinking is that it is a hardware issue.

The problem is that the touchpad is not recognized at all. The drivers are still recognized. I have to use my wireless mouse if I want the mouse to work at all.

Kevin, is it possible your touchpad is disabled in the BIOS? It is listed in advanced, internal pointing device.

Just to be sure, you haven't disabled it by pushing fn+F9 ?

Leave it disabled and keep using your mouse, you will thank me later.

Is that mouse wireless? If so, remove the USB wireless adapter for it. When an external mouse is detected, then the driver will disable the touchpad.

It is a wireless mouse. I have tried removing it and still nothing.

Also, I am a noob, but I don't know how to access the BIOS on this laptop?! I'm used to the desktop startup screen with the F* button working.

hehe, just wanna make sure that the laptop isn't crapping out on me. I haven't had any probs except BSOD when playing SCII, but I heard it is something to do with the game and not the VC.

really? both mine work at the same time... I can plug 4 mice in and the touchpad still works ?

Maybe it's a physical problem with the pad, also if you have had it open at all, make sure you re-plugged in the ribbon connection under the keyboard for the pad :D

No it has not been open, but I won't rule out that the ribbon has possibly come disconnected. I might have to open it up to find out.

I checked the BIOS and it is still enabled.

How do you get access to the ribbon? Which screws do I take out and how do I carefully open the case?

There is a setting in the synaptics driver that says something like "disable touchpad when mouse is plugged in". This may be set. If you are leaving the nub for your mouse plugged in all the time, your TP would never work. I can't turn that feature on since I use a Logitech mouse with a nub that stays plugged in even when I am not using it.

It might not be what you want to hear, but you really shouldn't be taking this laptop apart. To get a better idea of the intricacies of disassembling the G73, checkout the youtube video by BTO tech. If Jody's suggestion doesn't work, you should take it to a trusted repair center and let them have a look.
