Lately my USB ports are dying at an increasing rate. Usually if i leave too many USB devices plugged in it will eventually shut down all the USB ports and i'll have to do a force reboot, but lately it's been doing it with just my mouse + usb headset plugged in and it's happening every few hours.
The USB ports will simply die, none of them will work at all until i reboot then it works fine till it happens again.
Does anyone know of a fix for this? It is extremely annoying and inconvenient.

Rishwin there are some suggestions here:

I would add could you check the logs - computer management- Event viewer- windows logs - ....
Does this happen on battery and AC ? -
I never use it on battery so i wouldn't know, and i'm not using a logitech mouse. I've also checked the logs on occasion after having to reboot and haven't found any errors.

If no one has a better suggestion; one option left is to update the chipset driver -
see first post here http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?1150-G73-74-53-Series-Driver-and-Application-Reference
I was reading this http://rog.asus.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-976.html and it could be you AC power brick- do you have a multimeter to test the output of it? -
ThrottleStop may provide a workaround for your USB issues. There appears to be a power management issue related to C States on some G73 laptops. See these threads:

Can you temporarily turn off 'USB Selective Suspend' setting in power plan's advanced settings?
