Just throwing this out there to see if anyone has had this issue or if anyone knows a way to avoid the issue (besides what I'm already doing of course):

My G73JH is currently plugged into a Belkin 7-port USB hub, which has a Korg NanoKey, E-MU 0202 USB audio interface, and a Thermaltake BlacX dual-SATA hard drive docking station plugged into it.

Whenever I reboot the system it gets in what seems to be a POST-loop, meaning the booting process will not advance past the POST screen, and the ASUS boot up sound plays repeatedly.

If I unplug the hub, the system boots fine, and then when Windows 7 loads I just plug back in the hub and all is well. However, it'd be really nice to not have to unplug/replug the hub every time I need to restart.

    Any ideas?

Is the 7-port hub self powered? With all those items it better be, else you are attempting too much power draw off that USB hub.

No way it would work if it did not get its own power.

It is definitely self-powered, and the hard drive dock is self-powered as well.

I have had the same problem w/ my desktop for a LONG time. (Well since I got an HP w/ Asus mb) it basically tries to boot from one of the devices, can't so reboots.

The solution for me was to unplug my MP3 player and/or HTC smart phone when I was rebooting.

Might be way off base here, but did you check in the BIOS for boot priority? Is the 1st priority for a USB device? Might wanna change that if it is the case. Just a suggestion.

Try disablng the "legacy USB" feature in the BIOS. Fixes a hang I get at POST from my steelseries mouse.

IF the 2 previous sugestions do not work, I would go into BIOS and disable all boot options except the hard drive. Good luck Josea

I believe this solved it. I guess I get a little too technical in my own troubleshooting and forget to go 'back to basics' once in awhile. Thanks so much. +1 Rep
