Here's a strange issue I'm not sure if anyone else has come across. I typically use my G73 in my living room, connected to my home theater system via HDMI. I've recently been using a 2.1 setup, but I upgraded to a very nice 5.1 setup just now. However, the HDMI output on the G73JH is only putting out two channels, with no options to bump up to full 5.1? What gives? :(

I do 5.1 no problem. Did you change it to 5.1 in your Playback Devices?

The only setting for anything is stereo. Everything else is grayed out for some reason. Under "Supported Formats" in the "Properties" dialog box the maximum number of channels is listed as two. This is pretty strange.

You have to make sure what you are connecting to is setup for 5.1 or G73 won't recognize it as 5.1.

This might sound a little noobish, but I've got the HDMI cable running to my TV. Perhaps I should switch it to my receiver and see if that changes things?

You're suppose to connect all your devices to the receiver, the only thing connected to the TV is the receiver.

...And if any other sources (game console, cable box, etc) are connected to the TV rather than the receiver, you'll want to change them, too.

And, that worked. Thanks for catching my noobish mistake. Everything's working as advertised right now.
