How is the build quality of the G73jh? How is the keyboard? Does it feel solid etc? Any creaks? I gather its made of plastic instead of metal...

It's a durable plastic with rubberized finish. I haven't had any issues with it regarding flex or anything. The keyboard is nice, and I have no problems typing on it. And it's light for a 17.3"

Keyboard doubles as a trampoline and the subwoofer may rattle since it is not secured. Hard drive cover is like a tamborine but the deal breaker is the useless 1 button mouse

For desktop work, the 2 button + finger gestures work fine. If you need a better option, just use a mouse. Why complicate things.

He means that on the touchpad for the G73jh it's a bar, but still has left and right click. There is nothing wrong with it, unless you are constantly spamming right click on the touchpad, which is weird... The touchpad works fine with 2 finger scroll and double tap. No good reason to ever use the tilt bar touchpad buttons.

If you need to do that, the A1/B1/A2/A3 models come with gaming mouse with 8 buttons.

Also I wouldn't worry about anything Jay is saying. No one but him walks around drumming on their G73. So as long as you are not flipping your G73 over so you can't use it as a tambourine or slamming their fist on a trampouline, all reviews say otherwise, it's very stable and quality build. But it is all plastic, it's not a magnesium casing like Alienware, but that's why you pay the extra $1,000 on Alienware.

Yeah, I dont like to double tap :p

Is there a "middle click" functionality on the click bar?

    Oh yeah?
    Mine doesn't.

    Mine doesn't.

I don't understand what you mean by the first part.
And yes, I dislike the bar too. It looks nice but in practicality it's too hard to push down.

I checked one out at Frys a few months ago. Great quality for a plastic laptop. May be a little cheap feeling compared to my M15x (and then I looked @ the M17x and it made my M15x feel cheap D :), but still better than alot of other laptops. Keyboard had a little bit more flex then my M15x, which has barely any flex. Overall, I think it's a very well built laptop, though I have seen in the past where rubberized finishes may "peel" or fall off, but I'm not sure if that's a problem in the g73.
