Hi guys, I've had a problem with installing the webcam driver on my G73JH since getting it and I still haven't figured out how to solve it. I have the 1.3 megapixel Chicony one and just cannot get the driver to install. I've tried both the newest one on Chastity's driver reference page (v061.005.200.310) as well as the older one on the driver disc (v061.005.200.270) and I get this error every time I try to install:

At first I thought that my computer had a serious error so I did a clean install but this persists. What's weird is that this thing shows up as "USB2.0 1.3M UVC WebCam" under Imaging devices in my device manager but there is no webcam entry as one would expect in My Computer, so there's no way for me to actually turn it on:

    but nothing here

I've looked around the forums for people with the same webcam issue and there have been some reported but I couldn't find any conclusive or definitive solution for this.

Looks like it's working fine in Device Manager. Probably running the Microsoft Plug N Play driver like mine. Why not just install Skype or LifeFrame and see if it detects the webcam?

Doh! Thanks for the reply dstrakele. Just installed Skype and now I see that it is working. I guess I was confused because I'm used to seeing a webcam icon in My Computer for plug and play webcams and thought that I needed the ASUS driver to get this webcam to work. But I still think it's strange that the official ASUS driver for this webcam wouldn't work. Anyway thanks again.

I tried to use my webcam last week for facebook, and it wouldn't load. Noticed that this was happening too - *shrugs*. It used to work (and install) fine.
