    Hello guys,

I have read a lot of posts on here regarding similar issues but nothing seems to fix this. Basically, this occurs when I am playing games where the computer would freeze accompanied by loud crackling noises, similar to the noise here Asus g73jh Crackling Sound - YouTube, at which point I have to shut it down with the power button.

I have tried uninstalling Creative and Realtek, as well as updating Realtek drivers to the latest version, but the problem remains.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem or have any ideas how I can go about fixing this?

    Thank you very much!

Does this happen with the built in speakers and/or external speakers?

Hi, it is with the built in speakers. And only seems to happen when the computer is pretty hot from gaming.

    Thanks!

Would you be able to see whether or not this happens in Safe Mode? This way we could discern if this is a hardware or drive issue.

    Hi Alaric,

I tried starting the computer in Safe Mode but none of the games would run, I tried Guild Wars 2, Dota 2 and Skyrim.

Given how the problem only appears when running games, I couldn't really test it in Safe Mode :(

    Any suggestions?

Hello Josea, I just finished with a reinstall and am now on windows 8.

Before I test the games again, i want to make sure I have updated everything correctly, can you tell me if I missed any key components that need updating?

    Done:
    Intel PROSet/Wireless
Intel® Chipset Device Software (INF Update Utility)
    synaptic point devices

    Planning to:
AMD Catalyst™ Notebook Display Driver 13.4

Good move on clean install of Win 8, Did you utilize any of the information here? http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...m/694090-windows-8-g73jh-resource-pool-5.html ....
Another approach is to look at device manager and verify that all hardware devices have proper drivers.

I would also recommend running a tool to verify that the hard drive is OK, Check the HDD manuf.'s site (for instance SeaTools for Seagate drives)

    Hi Josea,

Thanks for the link, in one of Chastity's post, she said that 'Once both are current, you can then work on your software drivers. You can grab the current INF and SATA drivers from Intel's site, as they were recently updated for Win 8.'

I know that I got the Intel® Chipset Device Software (INF), is the update for SATA drivers something different?

I will go ahead and read through the linked post in more detail tomorrow :D

I guess this is the end of this topic :D

Been using the laptop with 0 problems for the last days, so I guess the clean install was what I needed to do.

    Thanks for all the help!
