    Hello,

I have gone to Asus website and filed a complaint on their support form for the Bios 206 no description issue and for the CPU throttling.

If enough of us do this, maybe they will finally listen. This is a problem for ALL G73JH owners and is not an isolated problem.

Also link them to the CPU throttling thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=472182

To me this seems like simple Bios fix from Asus. Bios 207 hopefully with description, fixes CPU throttling.

I've also contacted the Asus Customer Service Rep here on this forum and asked to contact Asus for the same problems. I hope this representative can have some influence in getting these issues addressed.

Ken @ GenTech PC managed to get Asus to fix the bios for the N71 model. Ken if you have any influence on this also, much appreciated.

Only on battery. It's an issue that I'm guessing 99% of G73JH owners won't notice. But the few they may have issue with. But it is an issue on ALL G73JH models, but you will unlikely be affected by it. Regardless I think Asus should just simply fix it for those who need it fixed.

Even if you are unaffected by it, like me I would do it. I'm currently running on Bios 206 so for me wasn't a big issue and I use my G73JH on battery almost daily and did not notice any problems with it. But doing some tests I know my G73JH just like all other owners does throttle down. But like I said for what I do on battery, makes no difference.

But I still filled it out, contacted Asus, and think all G73JH owners should do so also.

Yeah, I contacted ASUS during the time of that thread and voice my concerns about both the lack of description for BIOS 206 and the throttling.

What I find interesting is that others, who were already in contact with ASUS who asked, as well as those who claim they have an inside ASUS contact, have not been able to get the information.

In the same thread that ziddy123 included a link to in the head-post of this thread, I posted the results of a test I performed. If you're interested, you can read it by clicking here to get an idea of how the throttling works.

You are right about the CPU/i7 throttling while on battery. I noticed this after I set the ATi CCC Power Play to Maximum Performance while on battery. I then started a game of Bad Company 2 with 4xAA and max settings at 1600 x 900. I noticed a significant amount of FPS lost as a result of running on battery. After I connected the AC the change was immediate. Bad Company 2 and the Crysis games are the only games that I have that rely enough on the CPU to show this CPU throttling.

Why does Asus go through all the trouble to include all these GREAT components into their G-Series line of PC's, only to throttle them through the BIOS?

+1 rep Ziddy for topic creation.

ran mine till it died last night on battery, did throttle more and more as the battery died, but even at the worst it was still playing yotube and surfing the web fine... was watching Everest the entire time in the background and it did slow down noticeably after 50% life.

Did you happen to notice what your GPU core clock was on battery? Go back on battery and open up the AMD GPU Clock Tool (click "Get Clock Info" just to be sure) and let me know if they are 300x1000. Thanks.

EDIT: PM me your findings please.

    Nice job ziddy, filed, thanks.

These companies really need to stop this. Pretty much every machine with an i7 does this but come on! As consumers we know what we want. If battery life was such a concern I'm sure those people would have gotten i5's or ULcpus.

This really worried me when I noticed it. I wanted to see how long the battery would last, and let it drop to ~10% while doing some internet browsing and iTunes listening. I noticed it slow down considerably, but figured it was a feature to conserve battery power (I guess I was right) and so was not that concerned.

What's crazy is that plugging the computer back in doesn't restore it to its full performance. I waited for about an hour as the battery inched back up past 60% and still no noticeable improvement (the computer was almost unusable, frankly, even for just basic internet browsing).

    So here's my question:

The fact that not many people are complaining about this, could it be that only a subset of owners actually experience this problem? Or perhaps experience it so acutely? I bought from a store with no return policy, so I'm stuck with this.

I've never use it on battery. (well I accidentally forgot to plug it in once but don't think I had any issues) I only bought it for Windows games since I use a Mac for work. I carry it on my travels and to play games with my kids/grandkids at their homes.

Perhaps many users also just use it plugged in.

    Cheers,
