    G73JH retention clip issue

    Hey guys, I was in the middle of finishing up a repaste for a coworker of mine and I broke the black keyboard retention clip. See pic:

    Are these easy to replace? My research says that this connection is only for the LED back light but i want it working correctly still.


    Sorry, i know this is a Noob question but i cant seem to find or locate the name/price for replacements.

    Thats soldered onto the motherboard so its technically a motherboard replacement. I would latch it as best you can and then use electrical tape to secure it.

    Even if the clip is broken, if it can still put pressure on the cable (only one side of the clip is broken), it may still be tight enough to hold. Otherwise, tape is a good alternative. As long as the cable makes contact, the backlight will work, broken clip or not.

    Yep, tape just means when you move the machine it's less likely to come out. Just make sure it is electrical tape.
