So here is the deal, I just got the laptop back from ASUS after being RMAed for the second time. First time back in January, the video card and the motherboard died and both got replaced, second time (2 weeks ago) I got a PSOD. So I sent it back to them and they replaced the display. I got it back not a week ago and bummm... a PSOD again.

This would be the third time heading back to ASUS... this time I'm really pissed off. Not only the fact that I have to ship it internationally and that is costing me money... but also the fact that well all these problems are related and not getting fixed and since all of this have happened is related to the video, and having it send to repair 3 times in less than 3 months for the same issue... I don't know what to expect anymore.

So what do I need to tell ASUS support, I know I need a new display, but I want to make sure they get it right this time. Where could the problem be? on the new Video card? the motherboard? As I understand PSODs are caused due to extra voltage being fed into the display, Am I right? anyone else having same kind of issue?

    Any comments are welcome.

Demand a replacement unit and see how far you can get with that.

If not, shoot for a replacement mobo + GPU + LCD.

This is only the second incident I can remember of a repeated PSOD.

Same thing happened to me when mine was brand new. Sent it in and got a new replacement and that one gave me a psod as well, 2nd rma they just replaced the lcd screen and it's been working ever since. I think it has to do with the LCD controller firmware not syncing correctly when resolution changes. Replacing your LCD should do the trick. You may run the risk of it happening again if you get a new vid card, mobo etc.
