hi guys, was just wondering much power these things consume on sleep mode, i regularly just leave it on sleep mode instead of shutting it down. sleep time is around 12 hours.

also wondering if there are detrimental effects other than possible increased power consumption when leaving this laptop in sleep mode for extended periods of time (not longer than 24 hours though)

    thanks in advance :)

I would also like to know this. I'm a college student so sleep mode between classes is pretty much all I use.

    Bump? Really? ;)

Are you looking for opinion? In my opinion, much less power is used in sleep mode....even less in hibernate mode. If you want to measure power draw, use an ammeter - then you'll know exactly.

There's no detrimental effects unless you have unsaved work that gets lost when power is lost.

You can also fully charge the battery, immediately put it to sleep mode and time how long until it runs out. (better set some type of camera to avoid spending 12 hours watching it...) then divide battery capacity by time and get an idea of the draw...

thanks for the answers guys. i normally use my laptop plugged in. i dont have such a device that lets me monitor power draw, and i dont plan on getting one :p but your replies helped me alot. i was just wondering if there would be considerable wear on the components by putting it in sleep mode alot.

    thanks! :D

My G73JH-RBBX05 tested with Kill-a-watt meter.

Idle at desktop - around 40-45W
    Gaming - ~ 125-130W
    Sleep - 1.5W

This is a setting, no? If you set "hibernate" to "never", it only does it if the battery reaches a critical threshold which is often around 5% or 10%
