hi about half a month in on my asus G73JH

it's been really cool but for some sort of odd driver hick up where i was getting about half the power i should have been getting aka fallout 3 maxed at fps 25 now fallout 3 maxed at 45-60 frames.

    kinda crazy

now since i figured that out i've been benchmarking my system again to see what i can get out of it. and been finding that it's actually getting less points/ fps when in turbo mode then on normal.

so just wondering if anyone else is seeing this problem. how to fix it? I think my computer is in turbo when turbo is set to off and normal when my turbo is set to on. but i don't know. i would like to sort it out so that it makes a little more sense.

Yes, do not use turbo. Use AMD GPU Clock Tool to overclock the 5870 manually and leave it at that. (read the battery thread first)

If you really want to overclock the CPU you can use setfsb (see 10 pages back on the benchmarking thread)

You can overclock the cpu with setfsb? since when...?

Thats like the biggest news since sliced bread, and I missed it... wow.

So much for that 920XM upgrade :D

It's not as drastic as you would expect due to thermal limitations (and the RAM)

Well in your sig you have 3.2ghz thats 2x faster than the 1.6ghz stock Id say thats super drastic.

That's because of turbo, if I ran all 4 cores at 3.2 the laptop would melt (if the power brick could push that much power)
