That is my DVD drive according to Device manager.

Because I travel often I end up changing my DVD regions often. I wasnt aware that I only had 5 changes total. Well i am on my last one....and this is unacceptable.

Where can I find a firmware that is region-free?

Well I removed this drive from my system and replaced it with a Sony blu-ray so I can't flash to test. Here are some firmwares I found: Samsung TS-L633C Firmware Downloads - Firmware HQ Here is a detailed page about firmware and this drive: HOWTO Flash Firmware of a Samsung DVD writer - Club MyCE

I think you have two things to try here. You can try to flash it with a firmware update or flash it to at least a different firmware and see if that resets your region code # of changes available. It might. Or you can buy a utility that runs on your laptop that allows you to play movies from any region. One such program/utility that lets you do this is AnyDVD. I've used that before and it works very well. It is not free.

I once bought a blu-ray player for my laptop that had a screwy firmware that wouldn't allow it to play any movies at all. When I used this utility it played movies just fine.
