I wanted to get an SSD but the price point is a little ridiculous for me right now and I got the Momentus XT instead for $99/500GB @Amazon. Momentus XT is a Hybrid HDD with 4GB of SSD installed for the few of you who don't already know.

Anyhow, so far I haven't had any problems yet (there are some grumblings about the XT intermittenly hanging for a few seconds), and noticed boot up has improved from 45 seconds to about 25 seconds after three reboots. (I cold boot and time from when "Starting Windows" comes up to when the cursor appears, and this also includes whatever time it takes me to type in my password.)

As for gaming, I don't play much FPS, and NBA2K11 (on Steam) shows 80 frame rate right now (1920x1080, AA off, everything high), unfortunately I can't remember what it was before the XT drive, maybe someone else who has this game can check :)

Very happy so far, and thought I'd share.

There is a thread here with a link to the latest firmware for that drive. I am 99% sure it is SD25. That should take care of any stuttering.

There will be absolutely no difference in the performance of games. You should get faster boot times, but game FPS will not change. If you launch a certain game repeatedly, it might start up a little faster, but that's about it.

I've had mine for a few months. I guess it's a good hard drive. To be honest with you I wish I had gone for a 750GB 7200RPM drive instead. I mean this one works fine, but it doesn't feel much different than a standard drive once I'm booted into windows.

Anyway, I'm glad you are happy with it. I can't complain about the drive at all.
