Hey guys, I'm thinking of buying a G73JH soon, but all the different versions confuse me!
I know the difference between A1, A2, X1, but then there are B1, Bs7t smth, rbbx05, TV smth. Is there any place I can find a nice clear list with all these versions, what's different about them, and when they came out. Hopefully the more recent versions maybe have the bios, keyboard already fixed?
And do any versions have the GPU pasting done correctly (or at least more correctly than the others?
I've been surfing the forum for a while but all I could find were 1 vs 1 comparisons...a complete and updated list would be great. Thanks for the help!

I think the main reason for the diversity of types is cause of the country you live in. Especially they keyboard you type with. In belgium we use azerty, in the USA qwerty I guess, and they have a different enter-button.
So I don't think I could buy an A1, unless I it from the US, and visa versa, they couldn't buy one unless they do the same. -
Actually there are other changes between the various models. HDD size, qty, and speed, RAM amount and speed, Display resolution, Blu-ray or no Blu-ray, warranty length...etc.
So while there are quite a few models available with various features and specs, most of the info seems pretty readily available here and/or from the various retailers. I was going to make a small sheet listing the differences for myself so I can prioritize my needs vs the small price differences that exist between the models. -
Well yeah but how do I know there aren't some models not mentioned here?
And no retailers say anything about the pasting job, I was hoping that more recent versions have better pasting jobs. I mean the gpu issue is by far the most prevalent problem, it's on virtually all ratings. Everywhere you see lots of 5 stars, but a few 1-2 stars because of the gpu pasting. I thought Asus might have caught on and started releasing new versions with a better pasting job. It would cost them what, 5$ bucks per laptop to get rid of the number one problem? -

Well, how do I know when to stop asking different retailers what versions they have? It would be easier if someone just heard that version Xc453 came out last week. Then I could search for that version directly.

there are are only a finite number of resellers/retailers to choose from unless you're looking on ebay. depending on where you live you'll have 1 - 3 brick and mortar, and 4 -5 reputable online places discussed often here. so realistically there are a limited number of configurations to research and determine which features are important to you.
as far as how well each is pasted, it's unlikely you'll get that information at all. the only people that know for certain how their specific model was pasted are those that repaste, which is a small-ish number. everyone else will base it upon gpu/cpu temps, which will vary by ambient temps, working conditions, dust, usage...etc. lots of variables. that said, the newer models starting from the b1 haven't seemed to have as many heat related issues, and the consensus seems to be that they moved from a paste to a thermal pad...but i wouldn't count on that. if it's something you're really concerned with i'd probably go with a g73jw which have reported cooler temps with the 460m.
either way good luck with your decision. -
Turns out that the JW and JH have similar temps, if the JH is pasted properly - according to notebookcheck.net - check the JW and JH reviews.

I've talked to a few people that bought their refurbished laptops from newegg and they no longer use the sloppy thermal paste. Its now a type of thermal pad that provides much better temps, not as good as a correct thermal paste application, but still better than the stock asus job.
