I've looked around at sager/clevo laptops and almost settled on the 8130/8150 (quad sandybridge, 460m, 1920x1080, etc etc) but then I saw that recertified/used G73's go for a decent price, and have a 5870, which obviously tops the 460m. I can live with a weaker cpu and maybe the lower res screen (seems like a 1920x1080 screen replacement is $100)

But with all of that aside, I see these huge problem threads with the G73 and that concerns me. Can someone tell me what are the unresolved problems with it? As I have no problem flashing the bios, doing registry tweaks, etc. But If there are issues that still plague the machine after a year.. I'm not so sure It's worth it over the sager laptops.

    Thanks

All the problems are solved except the touchpad problem which not everyone has and a fix is coming soon.

Are you buying in person or over the internet? I would test out the keyboard and touchpad vigorously IRL at the store to make sure it's functioning properly. Try typing quickly while watching your fingers and then see if any keystrokes are missing. If you're ordering over the internet, you're taking a gamble with the keyboard and touchpad. GSOD issues are solved with a simple BIOS flash.

Internet :/ The three options are a third party refurb site, ebay, or newegg. Obviously newegg is the safest place to buy, but its $60 more then the refurb site and ebay is probably the lowest (auctions)

    I appreciate both the responses~
