GPU-Z is indicating that my GPU is switching between 405 and 700Mhz back and forth when I'm idling at desktop. What could be causing this?
-
-
How idle is idle? Do you have a browser process open with, say, a YouTube video open (but not playing)? What is running in the background?
-
Aero, perhaps?
-
-
So Aero is causing this? Man... ATI needs to seriously bring it up a notch with their powersaving profiles for laptops. Nvidia has them beat in powersaving profiles = =
-
-
-
I've also never had any issues with Aero causing me to go over 405. Only make that jump when going to games.
-
I dont know how the Asus would react anymore since i havent used it for a while, but the MSI vBios stays put at LOW when im idling with all aero features turned on. -
Asus is the one who did this with their vBIOS configuration....I can't imagine why they configured the state settings that way. -
I'm no hero in tweaking my graphics card, so I was wondering if there's an easy-to-use program to make our own profiles, in case we game/watch movies/browse the web.
Ive got the 93vbios, and it changes between 700when gaming, 500 when watching youtube's, and 405 when surfing/idle'ing..
Lets say I wanne change those to 800/500/100, whats the easiest way to do so ? -
open a monitoring program all the time and do some stuffs and you will see that it jumps very quickly from 405 to 700 and back in a second to 405
i have noticed that in many cases
EDIT : I will do a video if you like that clocks jumps for the unbelievers -
. But you can always help me if you want
.
-
but i don't recommend you to change the values if you don't know what you are doing (changing clocks and getting the right ones within your desire will take you a lot of time and flashing) -
-
if you want permanent clocks you need to flash
if you want temporary clocks you can make shortcuts on your desktop with amd gpu tool -
-
.
I already flashed my 5870 with ur vBios, and my question was what the easiest way was to change those values, so that when I go to batterymode it doesnt change to 250 - 500, but to 100 - 200. But I guess I'll have to flash my vBios for that with a custom-made RBE bios.
-
I have TWO vBIOS posted.
http://pcaudio.ath.cx/stuff/fix_od2.rar
This one uses 100/150 for battery clocks, and 700/1000 & 400/1000 for AC. -
the title says it everything
i am running 4 programs in the video
i forgot to change the language to english so here is the translation but i don't think you will need it
GPU работен такт = GPU Core
and btw i couldn't record the whole screen becouse my clocks were all the time to 700/1000 on full screen so i recorded a part of it so it can stay in 2d mode(400/1000)
also clocks get stuck with enabled dreamscene on desktop ....
here we go
YouTube - G73JH Jumping clocks -
All normal. Even on desktop, opening skype, msn,Furmark will result in a higher clocking on a nVidia gtx 295.
I guess the program are pooling the card and it put it in 3d state for a sec.
Nothing to worry about, it normal behavior and not ATI fault here. -
i don't know which fault is it but i don't like it
-
That will stop if you set your Powerplay to Maximum Powersaver...of course not everyone will want to do or even like this solution
-
can you confirm experiencing the same
becouse there were some people saying their clocks are stable -
Umm I guess I can make a video or something tomorrow, but it might be because of my modified clocks, and the fact I have mine set (in all but High Performance mode) to be Maximum Powersaver on battery and AC
I probably should have added in my other post that these are under my circumstances =X -
That's one reason I updated my vBIOS. Fix_OD2 has all my AC clocks using 1000 memory, and UVC and idle AC clocks are both 400, to minimize jumpy display.
-
my vbios is like that too 400/1000 for AC and UVD clocks and 700/1000 for 3D -
-
I never saw any flickering.
2D setting 125/100.
Maybe this clock changing is only while win aero is enabled? Try basic theme. -
http://pcaudio.ath.cx/stuff/fix_od2.rar
and you have high performance and UVD both on 400/500
can you provide me the link with 0.9v on batery mode (i can't get it working on 0.9 AMD gpu tools report 1.1500
well i hate that part ....that's why i keep the memory at 1000
@tilla you said that your clocks don't jump ... did you saw my video ? and what do you have to say about it -
weird, older version must have crept into the system... so I just redid it
-
hey what do you say that you or someone else experienced can include remote support? (teamviewer) or else
that would be excelent .... -
I wouldn't do anything like that over a forum. You'd have a better chance of convincing me to do that in my channel.
-
when i will have some serious problem i will
still on baterry mode showing 1.1500vi've just flashed yours too and same
i remember it was 0.9v but the devil made me flash again and now i can't get it to 0.9v
do i have to worry about???
or gpu clock tool doesn't show them corectly too?
i think it shows the voltage corectly -
GPU Clock Tool is a bit fubar with that
-
and what are your readings
if you have it on 0.9v tell me your secret -
after confirming that the voltages are fixed at 1.15 and 0.95, I only use those two settings
-
did anyone notice that when using FIREFOX 4 (rc2) on maximize the clocks change to 700/1000?? with the old version (3.6.x) I didnt experience this...!
-
i am seeing that all the time
it detects 3D somehow :
