Hey gang. I recently picked up a G73JH-A1, and could not of been happier with it in the beginning. About a week after owning it however I started getting problems with the video card. I had once instance of artifacting which appeared similar to this (only it was yellowish in color and much worse):

Following this I decided to try updating the video card drivers. Ever since then I have had periodic problems with the screen locking up and appearing just as the attached images show (took them with my iphone, sorry about the quality heh). I tried rolling back the drivers, but still, same issue as the attached photos. This typically crops up during games, however the original artifacting issue (the one similar to he link I posted) occurred while just sitting at the desktop with Firefox open. Any insight would be much appreciated.

PS. The only things of significance which I have installed on the machine are Heroes of Newerth, STEAM, Supreme Commander, and Heroes of Might and Magic 5 and Just Cause 2.

Get a replacement. Call your reseller since it's only been a week and get it replaced.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well... Just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something simple that could remedy the problem.

Nope, the video card is FUBAR'd... dont worry, your not alone in this as its probably one of the more common issues that have crept up with the G73 unfortunately... Knock on wood I havent had any issues with mine at all yet

It is a hardware problem. I also have this problem and I sent it for RMA. Now it is ok after replacing the graphic card
