I just started getting a screen flicker after 2 years 1 month (sucks eh?)
This flicker is not the flicker a lot have posted about...it's not a fuzzy type flicker. My display flickers off then on in about a millisecond (didn't officially time it). It's like the quick flicker you get when you update your video drivers. It happens on battery or AC...only randomly...sometimes 2 or 3 times in an hour or sometimes once in an hour.
Furmark after 5 mins shows GPU at 74 degrees and thats when my fans come on to cool ..temp goes down to 72 degrees but levels off at 74 again...so temps are good. Has anyone experienced this issue? Is a new video card in my future?

    Bios (032...038352)...date...2010/8/30 Catalyst 12.3

Can you repeat it if you move display back and forth? It could be the LCD cable going bad, power to the backlight is in the same cable.

No, everything seems solid...shaking, moving, nothing causes it to happen. It just happens randomly when I am reading or watching a video. Still looking into other things that may be the cause. Did a Furmark for 10 mins with temps at about 84 degrees with no issues....

One would think its hardware related. But to rule out software, can you boot up into another OS? (Ubuntu, MiniXP.... or Asus Express Gate) and see if it does it there. I would check your event viewer and see if its has anything there as well.

By testing on another OS and reproducing the problem, you can safely say its hardware and save yourself a lot of time messing with drivers.... unless you have luck with those on your G73.
