Hello everyone, I am new to this amazing forum, I been reading alot here trying to find out what need to be done here, I will be much apperciated if anyone can give me some input.

    Here's my suituation:

I have an Asus G73JH-A1 about 2.5 months now. I try running few games with no-cd crack.

I had played : BioShock, BioShock 2 with max resolution and mix out quality with no lag.

Playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 only able to run on mix resolution but low quality setting, otherwise will be laggy.
SplitSecond: max resolution but not able to use the highest quality setting, otherwise will be laggy.
Sims 3: Mix everything, but sometime lag may occured.
metro 2033: Can't run on max resolution (extremly laggy), frustrated didn't bother to try other setting.

I am not sure if this laptop's peformance can get better for those games, or i need to do a clean install on the window 7 or such?

I am still running on default window 7 straight out the box since day 1. And haven't did any Video Card update or so...(i am a newbie when it comes to computer haha :-0 )
After reading posts here, i think i will do a clean install of the 7, and update the Video Card Driver, but not updated the BIOS(heard it's risky)....
    any good suggestion?

By the way, I come across some post mention something about 'override' or 'clocking' is it going to boost the gaming performance of my laptop, is it safe to do so?

Thank you for taking your time and try to help me out.

Maybe your GPU is underclocked through your vbios or something

Huh, make sure you are in performance mode for both Windows and your ATi Catalyst Control Panel.

Make sure under power options you are in "performance mode"

In ATI catylst control panel make sure your slider is set to "best quality"

Don't use Twin Turbo. Long story short, it's garbage and can actually cause the laptop to perform worse.

One would think, but no, it doesn't really. There are a few threads with technical explanations. You can also check the benchmarking thread where people tried it with and without and it scored slightly higher without.

BFBC2 is a hardware hungry game, the PC port was less than skillfully done. Benchmarks made on a G73 on 1900 resolution usually give out around 30fps which means it will dip below 24fps in action-intense scenes. To keep BFBC2 fluid I play it at 1600 resolution and high settings.

Metro2033 is the new Crysis of system requirements (until we see crysis2). It's normal that you can't run it on full.

The G73 is a great machine but you can't expect the same performances as you would get on a Desktop ATI5870.

The SIMS3 is outside my field of expertise so I cannot say.

I had alot of respect for you, being a Marine and all, until I saw you played Sims3. o_O

    Anyhoo, onto the list:

    1) Make sure you click on the battery icon on the lower right and check you are on High Performance mode. (or Run Power4Gear Hybrid)

    2) Go to my 3rd link in my sig and download the Asus 10.1 package. It's newer than the stock drivers, just as stable, and can give you some performance.

    3) If you are feeling adventurous, and what red-blooded Marine isnt?, install Cat 10.6 for Mobility. ( You don't need to do a full reinstall of Windows7, just run the install application and uninstall the old drivers, reboot, and then run the same installer to install the new ones.)

Hahahah, oorah to that my friend, you make me laugh :D Nah, It's the only game my wife play (and Sims City too), I promised to install it otherwise she won't let me buy this laptop ;-p Thank you for your excellent advices, and make it as simple it can be for a computer newbie like me. I will try to get those done during the weekend. Will update again on the issue.

p.s. Even a DevilDog got no match on Wify.....
