I can no longer run anything. I have absolutely zero idea as to what has happened to my laptop. Everything is speedy (i.e. startup, regular programs such as sony vegas adobe after effects etc) except for games. Combat arms (free fps i play on occasion) = 20fps MAX. Star wars the old republic = immediate hard shut down within 5 minutes of launching it. Diablo 3 = immediate hard shut down within 5 minutes of launching it.

I dont know what to do can someone please give me instructions for showing my dxdiag or something?

Have you made any major changes to your PC lately? (Drivers, new programs, etc.)

Do you have a restore point you could restore to from before this began?

And while I'm not sure it will be helpful, to save a DxDiag report you go Start-> Run-> DxDiag-> Save All Information

shut down is always about heat or power if you didn't re paste your laptop till now then its time to open the hood and try re flow the vent with compressed air first and see what will happen otherwise you may have to re paste your gpu and cpu to maximize you cooling system effectiveness if that doesn't work you maybe facing a bad AC adapter.

I don't know that I'd straight up call it heat. It is LIKELY that it is heat related, but there are a lot of reasons why a computer might shut down, even if it only happens when gaming (RAM can be a very possible culprit).

Yeah, but heat is easy to check with something like a CPU-Z sensor log, checking for bad memory takes a lot more time so might as well rule out overheating first.

and ram will cause a BSOD first never encountered hard shutdown from a bad ram ever. however it may still possible but mostly heat or insufficient power.

Just wanna say thanks. compressed air solved my problem as i never dusted the inside since i got in 2010 being the idiot i am. literally puffs of dust came out. its quieter/cooler/no shutdowns, better fps (idk how dust effects fps but ok) haha. thanks<3

it causes everything to throttle down so cleaning it out allows it to run at original speeds
