Hey there guys. While pondering whether or not I should do a clean install of my newly purchased laptop, I had a question regarding Power4Gear. I currently have version 1.1.0.0 installed on my computer, and one thing I've found to be annoying about it (although I may simply not know if there's a hotkey on this keyboard) is that I have to always go through programs to find it if it's not pinned on the task bar.

Now I think I read somewhere that more recent versions of Power4Gear can be made into a gadget that can simply sit up on the desktop in the corner, so I figured it'd be worth a shot to try, but I don't see it in the downloads section on the Asus site, and I don't want to mess things up trying to install Power4Gear that was meant for a different laptop.

Any thoughts on where to find the most recent version for the G73JH?

Come to think of it, why is Power4Gear even needed? The Operating System profiles are the same as the Power4Gear profiles, aren't they? And, any profile has the same options for both AC and battery. Heck, you can reset the OS profiles which is more than I can say for the Power4Gear ones.

Who goes through programs to find it?

    1. Pin it if you like.
    2. FN + Spacebar cycles through them.

I find it helpful when I want to quickly jump to something like "quiet office" so that it ramps things down a bit.

Interesting tip, thanks~ the manual I got with the laptop was a bit lacking, so I don't really know what all the fn keys do. But uh, if anyone happens to know about a more recent version of Power4Gear it still may be nice to know.

Like I mentioned, what's the point of installing Power4Gear? The OS profiles are the same.

I looked. I don't see Power4Gear on the G73JH download area at all. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

That's because it's not part of the G73JH download area. Go to Asus support by clicking here. On the right side in the "General Download" area, select "Notebook" for 'Product'. In the second field select "Apps" for 'Series' and then click the "Search" button. Now in the general area for notebooks, click the "P4G" link.

Yeah ASUS fails at organization for downloads.

You, my good sir, are all kinds of awesome. I do have one last question for those that use this application. Is there any real difference between Power4Gear, Power4Gear eXtreme, and Power4Gear Hybrid?

Yes, the other 2 don't appear to work on the G73JH.

P4GH is the one that works, the other 2 don't

Hehe, it's okay. I'm tempted to remove Power4Gear. Like I mentioned before I don't see why there needs to be duplicates of everything. Can someone help me understand the need for P4G vs the profiles that are already provided by the OS?

Something that indicates that there is some additional value having P4G installed. It's not power management, since P4G isn't required for that to work. Is it the key combo Fn+Space, does that only work with P4G and not the OS?
