Pretty much what the title says. I try to hook it up to my 5.1 setup but no matter what I do, it'll only output stereo sound. In properties it says something along the lines of "max number of channels: 2" and trying to set it to 5.1 in a game (which is what I'm trying to get working, not a movie or anything) won't change that.

Anyone else encounter this or know if it can be fixed? I imagine it's a driver issue of some sort but I don't have the first idea of what to look for there.

You open up the HDMI Audio output in Playback Devices, and hit the configure button, which will allow you to set it to 5.1. If you don't have any other option other than 2-channel, then you need a new cable. You may be using a 1.2 HDMI cable, and need one that is certified for 1.3a or better. (A blu-ray player that I bought once came with a HDMI cable that was only 1.2 capable, and had this issue with one of my laptops. Replaced it with a newer one, and viola! 7.1!)

Yeah, that's where it's saying I have a max of 2 channels, so I'm going to try another cable and see if that's the issue.
