Strange. I repasted and after that i only have 4gb of ram of 8gb. It shows 4gb in windows and bios.

After the repaste it did not want to boot up. After removing 2 sticks it booted up and showed 4gb. I but the 2 stick back in and it started right up but now only 4gb is shown.

    Dead ram?

Have taken out the ram and swaped it but still 4gb :(

Lol problem solved...but and odd solution. I had to put the ram in stick by stick and restart the notebook after i but one in. If i but all in then it showed 4 gb.

have you checked the ram slots maybe theres gunk in them?

try moving the ram into different slots and check if its still detected, you could have damaged the slots or bent some pins maybe.

Like i said in the second post... after removing all the ram sticks i have to put them in ram by ram and boot the notebook up in between every ram stick i add. If i but all in at once and start it up i only get 4 gb of ram.

    Pins seem ok

I have similar problem to you.
Did you have to remove the ram stick accesed through the keyboard aswell ?
Did the laptop boot to BIOS after inserting each stick?

I had this problem after repasting I went from 6GB to 2GB to 4GB to finally 8GB. Go back and switch them around and make sure you push them right in firmly as the clips are not great.

I had 3 green and 1 blue so I stuffed the bluey under the keyboard when I repasted and made sure it was solid. It was the back 3 under the maintenance panel I had to fiddle about with once they where back in the correct order it registered 8GB and the BSOD stopped.

I had some free time today so I decided to try to fix the missing ram problem.
I put numbers on ram chips so I could know the order I already checked.
Switching around ram chips which are accessible from the panel underneath the latop ( 3 of them ) didn't help me at all. I tried all 3! = 6 configurations and after each restart I had only 4GB on BIOS/W7 and 8GB on HWiNFO32 & CPU-Z. Switching 4th stick which is on the other side might be problematic since it'd take extra 18 ( 4! - 3!) assemblies/disassemblies . Any ideas? Maybe I should clean the ram sticks with alcohol since there are some fingerprints visible on the area which touch the ram socket.

Sounds to me like you wrecked your RAM during the repaste.

Go back in and push the buggers right in I found that my slots are flimsy.

Check this easily by hitting ESC during boot and going into the BIOS it will confirm how much RAM you have which will save you time if you need to go back and check again.
