Anyone know where I can get a screen to fit the G73JH-X2 with 1920x1200 resolution or higher?

Tried searching, but couldn't find anything. Also what other upgrades are suggested?

    Thanks a Ton!

I'm going to say no, since it's 16:10, not 16:9 and won't fit in the bezel. Can't find any "official" information to that effect, though. (Can you fit a 4:3 panel in your g73? Why a 16:10, then?)

Other upgrades? An SSD. Other than that, you're pretty much set.

So you're saying the screen in it is the best resolution I can get?

I sorta need it slightly higher, if anyone finds any other options please tell :)

Yes that is the highest resolution screen they make for a 17.3 inch and there never will be a 1920x1200 in 16:9.. Next step up from the would be something like 2560x1440 ... There might be a couple inbetween but either way nothing like that has ever been made for a notebook...

How is a 1080 screen too low a resolution for your 17" screen?

He wants the vertical space from a 1200p screen.

What Robbie said... I'm gonna start digging around for something because this isn't going to work. I need more space :(

Well... will work if I must, but I was spoiled with my old screen, was really nice.

Get an external monitor. I mean, the g73 isn't exactly a portable laptop, it's a desktop replacement. Might as well have a monitor too, if your demands are such that you need a performance laptop instead of a desktop.

I think alienware still does 16:10 monitors.

I do travel alot, and the purpose of me getting this laptop is because it's a desktop replacement that I can still go around with.

I just can't imagine something isn't out there.

you're stuck with 1080p I'm afraid, it's the only downside for me for the G73, but everything offsets it.

Did you know you can get just about anything you want, provided you're willing to spend the money on it? Your problem isn't that it isn't out there. Your problem is that you'd have to pay someone to fabricate it for you. And while possible, it isn't realistic.

Say I wanted 18 inch rims on my 1993 honda civic. They won't technically fit in the wheel well, but I *COULD* get them to fit if I was willing to do a bunch of extra body work.

Same thing with your laptop. It's possible, sure. But realistically? You don't have the skills or the money to do it.

It's cheaper to get an AW rig with 1920x1200 than to get a panel that fits into your g73. If it was this important, I would have thought you'd look into it. It isn't even a problem with asus not offering the option - it's a different form factor, not designed to fit into the g73 chassis.

16:10 is a dying resolution, 99% of all new laptops and monitors are now 16:9. If you demand 16:10 resolution you must be prepared for more limited options and a premium price.

Like DCx said, someone who still uses 16:10 (because it is still premium product) is Alienware on their M17x series.

Or you could buy the MSI GX740, then replace the 1680x1050 screen with a 1200p LCD.

A few people have done this already.

Probably woulda done that if it wasn't 300 bucks more w/o the screen. But I guess I've gotta live with it until something shows up one magical day.

    Thanks guys.
