Just got this thing, and it's not detecting my wireless N network. I have linksys dual-band, one band is setup as mixed (which it finds) other band is wireless N which it doesn't.

    Any ideas?

I assume Linksys is the router/access point, yes? If so, what wireless adapter is in the notebook? The stock adapter is not dual band, so it will only work on the the 2.4GHz band.

Turn on WWM support on the router. It's required for Intel Wireless to do N speeds.

Whats WWM stand for? I see WMM and that is enabled.

I'm using DD-WRT firmware on a Linksys 610Nv2 router for the previous poster. The bands are split into 2 bands, not using both for the same connection. It's like having 2 routers.

No it's not, I have WMM off and do 300mbit with my G73

    (router is a DIR-655 A4 1.34NA)

The real problem is that the cheap N card in the G73 is 2.4GHz only, while your dual-band router is doing 5GHz N.

option 1) set the linksys to do N in 2.4GHz
    option 2) get a Intel Advanced-N 6200 card for your G73JH (I did this and it's lovely)

Note, the cheap card also can only do 150mbit, it can't do 300.

Wanna explain how you switched them out and where you ordered from? I can't run N @ 2.4Ghz, that'll eat my Mixed which other stuff runs on.

    Thanks.

Pretty easy to replace (assuming you already own the alternative card)

Step 1: Take out the 2 screws from the panel at the bottom of the laptop, and then remove the panel.
Step 2: Take out the 2 screws from the 1/2 size PCIe wireless card. It's the only card attached to an antenna in the accessible space inside the laptop
    Step 3: Remove the atennas.
Step 4: Remove the card. Put in the replacement.
Step 5: Replace screws on the card.
    Step 6: Replace panel/screws

In the future, it is considered polite to do (at minimum) a google search to attempt to find out this information on your own, before asking other people to do your research for you. Don't make me do a let me google that for you in order to find a place to buy the replacement. The price will be different depending where you live. Try ebay ( here, for example), if google doesn't work out for you. FFS do you need someone to hold your hand to go to the washroom, as well?

Mixed mode on WRT610N is B/G/N...I'm wireless-N connected on 2.4GHz band set at mixed mode right now.

The wireless card is easily accessible and swappable...2 screws to open the access panel on bottom, pop the two antenna connectors off the wireless card, and two screws hold the card in place.

I can't find the link to the good seller of the Intel Centrino 6200 card, sorry....someone will jump in with it :)

    *edit* Found the link

It's my understanding that both are the same thing. What it does is prioritize bandwidth according to the traffic. It's most beneficial when you want to stream media and your bandwidth is taken up by a download. The idea is that the streaming media will take a higher priority over the download. It's like QoS.

But, I could be wrong. ;)

only connected antenna 1 and 2, third I made optional :)

I didn't have an extra one or i'd probably have set that up too somehow. Maybe once I am done parting my old laptop out I'll go ahead and add it.

Wouldn't that through the "balance" off on the other two antennas? Or worse, does the third antenna have it's own transmitter? If you are going to only use 2 antennas, should have purchased the 6200 as it is the same as the 6300, but made for two antenna setups.

You can just leave it empty and your wifi card will still work with just 2 antennas. However, if you want to use the 6300's full potential, you'll need to purchase an antenna. You can get them on ebay for a couple bucks. This is what I did when I installed a 6300 wifi card to replace an atheros card that only came with 1 antenna.

Sorry to bump this topic up so much, but could you explain how you installed the third antenna? I bought an Intel 6300 and an extra antenna, waiting for arrival of those, and was wondering how to install the third antenna.

You'd have to route it along the LCD frame ideally.
