    Hi,

Can I get 4k output from the HMDI connector? I plugged into my new 4k tv and I can only get HD resolution.

    Thanks

I dont think you can because of the HDMI version.. too old for 4K :(

I think the G73 have HDMI 1.4 so it should support 4K at 30FPS. Do you have your screen settings set to extend instead of duplicate. You can also update your video drivers so see if that helps.

It depends on the input of the display too.

When I open the nVidia panel I try to set a custom resolution of 3840 X 2160 then the only button I can see is Test and when I click it it says custom resolution of 3840 X 2160 60Hz is not supported by your display.
Then if I set windows to use my tv as the only monitor and follow the previous steps I get the same error.
Additionally I can't get any drivers for my tv on Samsumg's website. There are only firmware and manuals.

    Here's the product link

    SAMSUNG

    Thanks

Can you do it at 30hz? HDMI 1.4 will not support 60Hz 4K, only DP or HDMI 2.0 will which your computer doesnt have either.

As a TV it likely only supports 30hz at 4k.

The closest match for GTX460M is GT 440:
    GeForce GT 440 | Specifications | GeForce
    where producer supports:

    Maximum Digital Resolution 2560x1600

HDMI 1.4 which you have in theory supports 4K 30Hz but your graphics card - GTX460M rather not.
During test you must somehow decrease refresh rate to 30Hz. Default value could be too high.

Yes HDMI 1.4 can't supply 60hz 4k without 4:2:0 chroma subsampling and I am not sure if nvidia even enable that on older cards.
