I just installed the game, about 5 mins into the game the PC shuts down, I have checked the error logs and nothing which could have caused this is recorded, I have even updated my graphic drivers to the latest version from the nvidia website.

The crash only happens after I start the game and never otherwise, so I am guessing its definitely caused by the game. Any Advice to fix?

PS - I have no problems in playing much more demanding games like CS:S, NFS:HP, Darksiders, UT3 etc

You can check your GPU temps by using HWiNFO32. Use it to log your temps to be saved on a csv file (just search for it on the app itself). In that way, you can keep track of your temps while playing the said game that crashes. It might be the case that your GPU overheats when playing that game (but your on JW so I'm not sure either as JH runs hotter than JWs).

Its definitely not temperature related, I have already checked, the CPU and GPU temps are in lowers 70s...

Seem like the game is doing something peculiar with the hardware which is making it crash... doesn't even bsod, just powers off as if the plug has been pulled (lot like described in the other thread with this name), just that it doesnt happen randomly, but done by the game.... :O

Is it possible for a driver bug to do this? I was under the assumption that drivers related problems always do a BSOD (or the many other flavors) and restart the PC... this just powers it off, doesn't even make it restart!! I this can be done manually it will a awesome hack to power off all JWs remotely :) (though this would be very bad for asus :p)

I have to say its something isolated to your computer. I have all of the AoE3 games and My JH runs them just fine. I can't say I have ever had an issue (Knocks on wood). Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game? Maybe something got corrupted?

    @Omniscient:
It a weird issue with the JW... The PC just shuts down... in my particular case this game is causing this... :(
I have checked the installation and it fine... something else is amiss

So if anyone has faced such a problem, please tell me what all you tried to fix it, and if it worked

BTW the hard disk firmware update anqsd24.lod update on the other thread is st95005620as but my hdd are st9500420as, should i still apply it??

also my device manage is showing AVFXPC8Y IDE Controller driver missing, how to fix/cant find any driver for that, and it wasn't like this before?

also event log shows the following errors
sptd, Driver detected an internal error in its data structures for .
kernel-PnP, The driver \Driver\af2vf082 failed to load for the device ACPI\PNPA000\4&5d18f2df&0.
isStor, The device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not respond within the timeout period.

"AVFXPC8Y IDE Controller driver missing"?? What chipset is used on the JWs? :)

Assuming the JW is using a 5-series chipset (HM55/PM55/etc.) like the JHs, I would remove and update the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver.

    hmm...have you tried this?

    1) In device manager, uninstall any IDE/SATA controller drivers
    2) Reboot - Windows will install default driver(s)
    3) Install Intel RST driver linked to above (do NOT install the one marked for "F6 install"...use the full package!)

Additionally, you may want/need to update your chipset INF stuff, especially if you did your own clean OS install and/or the above steps fail. See the "Core Drivers" section of Chastity's driver & app reference for an easy-to-use chipset INF driver installer.

Yes tried, but it didn't work :(, weird because I had the RST driver installed before.... seem like some kind of driver corruption

EDIT : I updated the Firmware on my HDD and AVFXPC8Y IDE Controller driver missing problem seems to be solved, but I still cant get the RST driver to install :(
