I have the G73jw with the azureware webcam.....and it is really bad.....like I get about 2 fps... maybe 3. It also has a delay on it.

Is there any way to fix this????? I updated the driver with the asus asureware driver from their page.....no help.

I have a clean windows install, with only the asus driver installed, no other software. I am using the camera for msn video and skype. My hardware ID is below, as you can see it is the asureware 2.0mp camera.

Its absolutly horrible, I get better fps on my netbook camera.

    Quick couple of questions...

Have you tried the ASUS Life Frame program and if there is any increase in FPS in that program?

After the driver update was no help, did you try updating your graphics card driver? If the webcam is fine in Life Frame then it may be a graphics acceleration thing.

Let me know if any of this helps. :)

he don't need life frame for his camera to work
and no it won't get you better frames
hmm i didn't knew there is a connection from the camera to the GPU driver

Right, I'm not saying he needs Life Frame for his camera to work, I was just trying to eliminate MSN Messenger as a culprit. If the camera runs better in another program (Skype, even?) might there exist a problem with the MSN Messenger?

And the GPU driver update was a shot in the dark, but I figure it can't hurt.

yep as he said test with 2 or more programs and when you confirm that everywhere you have low frames reinstall the driver...
i've had problems with my cam driver not installing so i managed to install a driver from another model with the same camera ....asus U model or something

Ah, my bad. I apparently need to learn to read better. :p He did say MSN and Skype.

And I believe that U series that you are thinking of is the U43JC... Just checked the ASUS Support site and the PID matches the one in his picture.

Let us know if that helps, nathancnc!

yeah, I don't have a chicony camera.... mine is asureware.

I tried the drivers from the asus U43JC, both the .206 and .204 variants, and nothing has helped.

I also have the latest nvidia video drivers installed, 266.58.

I have even tried disabling 3D effect in the nvidia properties window, and it had no effect.

Thanks, but I still don't know what the problem is.....
