Can anyone think of a reason why my G73JWA1 is only getting 75mbps when it has full strength from ym 300mbps wireless N router? I know the stock atheros card is rated at 150mbps.

How hard would it be to upgrade the card to the Intel one?

Very easy. Remove access panel. Remove antenna connections. Remove 2 screws. Remove card. Install Intel card. Reverse process. There's another thread about this called atheros sucks or something. Might be in the gaming sub forum.

Strange. Some issue with compatible N tech between the Router and the N card. My Atheros gets a full 150 to my Netgear.

If you just want a better connection get the 6200. If you plan to use WiMax the get the 6250, if you want the best range and connection speed get the 6300 but be advised that you will need to purchase a separate 3rd antenna and install it to get full use out of the 6300.

How about let's say, I bought an intel 6300 and installed with stock 2 antennas. Will it work? I mean, without installing 3rd antenna, will I still get dualband 300Mbps? I understand installing 3rd antenna will get me 450mbps, but my router is at max 300mbps :(

The 6300 with two antennas will give you the exact same performance than the 6200 so why pay more for the 6300.

Because the price difference is only like $8, and you can always add a 3rd antennae later.

sorry to semi-necro this thread, but lately my atheros card has been acting up lately- dropping wifi, taking approximately 10 secs to connect from cold boot (usually takes like 2 secs to connect- intel 320 160gb ssd), and my signal has dropped in half.

So, anyone with the intel 6200, please provide some feedback and your overall experience. Thinking I should pick one up.

Get the 6300. This way you get the option of adding the third antennae.

I was going to pick up a 6300 but I have no motivation to disassemble the G73JW to install the third wire. If I were to do so, I would at least upgrade the cpu to extreme and get into the fourth memory bank and max out at 16gb. But my SSD is the single best upgrade atm. I know once I feel the need to upgrade parts to this machine, I will probably just scrap it for newer technology, meaning a newer laptop.

I'm content with what I have right now, just want to replace this bad atheros card and maybe up my ram to 12gb- just gotta figure out which slots are in sync with each other for dual channel.
