Hi everyone, ive been reading about the backlit problems for a while now but i cant get it working at all.

After installing an SSD and upgrading the RAM + reinstalling W7 with drivers from asus webpage my computer is not the same. First of all the keyboard couldnt light up, allt the FN keys works good with all the animations, and the lights off/on/all off key works as usual. Is there a fix for the JW model ? Ive seen a few threads talking about the JH model but not the JW.

Also the audio is annoying, i cant get stereo out of the headphone jack. I cant even choose stereo in the realtek driver. Anyone else experienced this ?
If i let windows get the driver automaticly only the subwoofer makes any sound, but i can find two sound devices in the control panel. Whats this about ?

I hope i can get everthing working again soon. Many thanks.

Welcome to the forum, does the KB light flash when you turn on your machine?

Remove all sound drivers and install sound driver from the driver CD that should have come with your machine or get it from the ASUS support site.

Thank you for a fast response!
The KB light used to flash, but after a biosupgrade it stopped. Ive tryed to downgrade and install the bios it came with. But with no luck.

Ive removed sound drivers and installed them from asus support site, the driver CD got lost during a move though. And so far it doesnt matter wich drivers i try, the same problem occur every time. The laptop speakers sounds good but i cant get my headphones working.

    Thanks /Doof

If you read this from post 95 till the end it may be worth a shot creating the task in task scheduler. I would not mess with the BIOS unless it is a sure thing fix, always a slim chance a BIOS flash may brick the computer. If you need help let me know, If it works you will get lights at login screen (nice for midnight computer use).

I tryed to follow the guide in the thread you showed me without any luck, the only thing that happend was that the FN key did not start any graphics on the screen. So if upping the volume, the volume got louder but couldnt see the icon ive seen before. And the keyboard light still doesnt work.
Might i be doing something wrong here ? And the audio is annoying me as hell !

How does the sound actually sound? Do you only have on one ear the sound, or on both, but the same?
If you only have on one ear, then either you don't plug it in enough, or the plug in the laptop is broken or dirty. You might check with a torch and a wooden toothpick if there is tons of dust inside.

    1. Which BIOS did you use? (BIOS 205 is the latest)
    2. Have you disassembled the laptop recently?
    3. DO NOT attempt to downgrade your BIOS as many have bricked their laptops.
