I bought a G73Jh laptop in around october of 2010, and it worked fantastically.
Until about two months ago when my laptop wouldn't start.
I took it in to the local best buy geek squad section to get it checked out. They were able to turn it on, but the screen had a huge yellow spot on it (that looked like a spill) they determined it was a bad video card and that they had to send it to the factory to get it worked on.
They did and they sent it to me and it worked fine; however, the webcam isn't working. The webcam is built in, it isn't even there when i check my Device Manager.
The "Imaging Devices" section is completely gone... and skype/google+/aim video chats can't find my webcam.
So, I went to download the webcam drivers from the asus website.
There are three different webcam drivers, so I decided to download all of them.
The first and second drivers have a file called "DrvInst" but when I run it (even as administrator) a box comes up and disappears instantly.
All three drivers have a file called "PNPINST64" and when I run that file from the first two drivers I get this error.

They are the same error; however, they don't really tell me anything....
When I run the "PNPINST64" file from the third driver I get this error.

The device manager still doesn't show my webcam... I have spent several hours on this... any ideas?
I am running a legit version of windows 7 64 bit.
I have also tried restarting my comp... : /
Oh, I have also tried installing programs like "Driver Scanner" to try and automatically update my drivers... but nothing is working.
EDIT: I have found a program in my "Uninstall or change a program" list that is interesting.
The name is 'USB 2.0 1.3M UVC WebCam' should i uninstall and try reinstalling all my drivers again?
Should I leave it? Any suggestions?

tl;dr...
haha, just kidding.
Sounds like geek squad needs to re-attach your webcam, unless it's turned off in bios. -

I am having this EXACT problem. Mine just happened spontaneously though, so I don't think it has anything to do with becoming disconnected internally.
Have you found a solution or does anyone have any ideas?
Also, I accidentally uninstalled that program you were asking about, nothing changed, but I wish I hadn't. -
Like I posted in cjbbruns thread
If it isn't in device manager, try uninstalling everything listed under 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' and reboot, this should refresh the driver stack.
Otherwise it is very possibly the cable wasn't reconnected properly since they probably had the screen off to replace needed hardware. -
Hi,
I came across your post and I have exactly the same problem. Would my mind sending me your solution to the Web cam issue on your G73jh.
Thanks in Advance.
