Hi. Just want to anounce to all that 770m upgrade on asus G73SW is possible :)
I am in process of instaling video driver now, will come back with benchmarks later.
Also I am pretty sure 780m upgrade is possible to. Not sure of heat problems though.
770m I installed is from Dell and vbios modding is necessary to get upgrade.

But why would you do that since 680M is faster.

The 770M is a lot cheaper than the 680M while being a lot easier on the power side, a good option IMO.

It looks like the 770M is working well on all dGPU only platforms.

I already have 680m installed but just had to see if I could get 770m to. Now I am 90% sure it is possible to upgrade G73sw With 780m to while heat fear is another case.

No there is not. I am not sure if g73jw even can be upgraded no matter they are very similar thanks to asus. Also soldering is needed to reprogram vbios chip as I still havent find way to flash vbios with nvflash. It reports that I need newer version of it but I have tried them all from oldest to newest and all report same. Plus you need to mod vbios itself so gpu get recognised by laptop.

Yes. Strange thing is same nvflash flash all other vbioses on same pc just fine but modded vbios for 680m wont flash. So it is to conclude that something in modded vbios cause it to be unable to flash file.

Hmz. Well also the 770m will work on dgpu only systems but the 780m tends to not.

The 770m does have a lot of clocking room in it.

Hi. Gpu is from Dell. It came with vbios version 80.06.60.00.01
I can post Pictures to if you need but it does no difference as long as you know producer as they phisically look all the same.

The 770M series seem quite happy running other vendor vbios files so if you have issues with other brands you can try the dell vbios.

Heatsink is from G73jh. You need to grind some places to avoid shorting parts on gpu.

Just make sure once you have ground the heatsink to make sure no metal dust remains as well.
