I know that the G73JH with the ATI card before was infested with issues after issues like BSOD/GSOD, keyboard misses, touchpad issues, high temps etc..
Is this still present on the JW and SW versions?
I'm asking because I'm planning on buying the G73SW... TYVM

I've had a G73SW for about 2 months and have had no issues.

nope, those problems are now solved even on the g73jh, anyway,
the only one that some user experienced on the new units, was the keyboard lag in the JW series, so far it seems that the SW series does not have this problem.
Temps for the g73jh were high only cuz of the poor termal paste if you ask me, (and the 5870 runs hotter than the 460), so you won't see any of those problem with a SW.
You may anyway wait for the g74, it has a new design, a better keyboard, and a new GPU (even if it does not improve that much from the 460, I would still wait for that if I were you.) -
g73jh with updated and correct bios, driver got no issue
g73sw is free from those issues -
The G73SW is a very "finished" product. I think the G74 will be the same way. Sure the G73JH had a lot of issues. Everything on it was new, new MB, new CPU, new GPU, new chassis, etc. But all that is fixed now. Each revision has gotten better and only 1 thing was changed at a time, so they the later models benifited from the JH. JW new GPU, SW new MB & CPU. The G74 is pretty much a G73SW with a faster GPU, I doubt there will any problems with the G74 since the GPU is pretty much the exact same one was the G73SW, just higher clocks.
I would not let past issues affect affect your decision to purchase a G73SW. You will be very happy with it. -
The only main prob the SW has right now is throttling in certain games, like GTA4, SC2, and WoW. Basically when the CPU and GPU are both being stressed at the same time with close to 100% on the cores, the CPU will drop down to 798mhz. This can be fixed by running a program throttlestop, which solves any throttling. The main fix, which, you shouldn't hold your breath, is for Asus to release a BIOS update. This affects both the G53 and 73SW models.
HP had a same problem with their Envy 17 Gen2 line, but they already released a bios fixing it, so thats how I know that is all Asus has to do to fix this problem. -

With my credits and now the $100 rebate from Asus I could get the Asus G73SW-A1 for about $900 bucks. Awful tempting. Finger hanging over the add to cart button.

As for Apple's mbps being well built, that's if you exclude the horrible thermal paste job and heat issues if you stress both the CPU and GPU at the same time. They'll probably replace it if it dies though but still, bad thermal design on their part. -
If you need it for gaming then pass over and save money, it won't work -
Thanks.
