Hi, so I've replaced my G73SW's motherboard, and the previously completely dead laptop now lights up when power is attached. However, boot it does not, and there are two problems with this I'm not sure how to approach:

First, connecting the powered charger to the laptop immediately causes it to light up and the fans to start. The fans seem to spin at full speed and the laptop does not boot. Pressing the power button turns the laptop off again.

Secondly, after turning the laptop off, pressing the power button again causes the laptop to briefly light and the fans spin up, then power is lost and everything turns off again.

It seems like a short, and so I'm a bit afraid to test it any further, does anyone have an idea of what I should try next? (I'm assuming [read: desperately hoping] the motherboard, being new, isn't the issue.)
