Well after a couple small issues it all worked out and my G73SW is running a GTX 560M. The 560M came from a G53SX.

First are a few pics of the 2 cards side by side. The 560M is on the Left and the 460M on the right.

You can see the heatsinks are very similar but the 560M's covers more of the card.

When the heatsinks are removed, the cards are pretty much identical as far as the layout. I decided to use the 460M's heatsink. What I did is cut off the part of the 560M's heatsink that is not covered by the 460M's heatsink. Then I lined up and attached it to the 460M's heatsink. I used some Quick Steal to connect them. The stuff is great, hardens quick and like steel.

The last picture is the 560M with the modified heatsink mounted on the motherboard. You can also see my relocated DC Jack wires coming off my new SW Motherboard. The last one died a horrible death.

The laptop booted right up with no problems until Windows 8 loaded. It refused every attempt to install drivers for the 560M. First it kept giving an error that it was the wrong hardware for those drivers. I got past that by using the .inf file from this site: v314.21 Windows 8 64bit | NVIDIA Mobile OEM - 31x Series GeForce Driver release - LaptopVideo2Go Forums

I would now get up to the point where the drivers tried to installed, but always failed. And after starting a thread here and ROG forums. Adamsyes had the answer, "boot with signature driver disabled (metro>settings>general>windows boot options)". That did it! Drivers installed.

I've been playing a bit with 3DMark11, pushing my clocks. Here is a screen shot with the best stable score I was able to get so far.

I'm now on the look out for a affordable 670M from a G75. They are quite a bit different shape, so I'm not sure if it can be done. I sure want to try though.

Anyway let me know what you think or have any questions let me know.

Hi Great guide surprised no replys, Wondering if you or some one else could help me out I just bought a gtx 560m to replace my dead gtx 460m, I need a few question's answered,

1, Do those extra 2 chips really need to be covered?
    2, Are any vbios's needed?
3, Im running windows 7 will i run into any issues?
4, Can i just put the g73sw heatsink on put laptop together start it up and install drivers?
    5. Does the gtx560m idle cooler than gtx460m?

I got the gtx560m because its the same price as the gtx460m

    1. If it was ok the 460M, it's likely to be ok on the 560M.
    2. Just the driver requirements as above.
    3. Should not.
    4. You need to make sure the thermal pads have not degraded and do a decent paste job.
    5. No it should be the same.

Not this specific one but I have upgraded many, many machines.

I go with IC diamond as it's not capacitive like AS5 and performs better in notebooks.

Just seen my replacement g73sw board has g53sw bios on it, How do i flash it to it's correct bios g73sw, i have tryed winflash, easy flash,aflash2 all wont allow me to do it says something along the lines of it being the wrong bios is there away to force it and get around these errors stopping me from flashing the correct bios gpu fan does not work at all on the g53 bios and this bios doesnt support gtx560m hence reason for flashing to the correct g73sw, Any idea how i can do this would be great, thanks.

The vbios is integrated into the system bios. If you are trying to flash a bios file from another board you would need to find the force flash commands in dos.

Ouch, are you sure your heatsink is working properly? If a heatpipe goes bad it can cause constant high temps.
