How is the screen on the 3de model? I know its 120hz and matte, but is it clear, bright with great viewing angles. 3d is a nice thing but i'm looking at the 3de primarily for the screen quality.

Also does the 3de have anything else over the A1 model to justify the expense?

Obviously the 3DE has the 3D Glasses, 3D Emitter and better screen over the A1. I personally went from an A1 to a 3DE. The matte screen is VERY nice and it brighter and more clear then the Glossy IMO.

If you dont care about the current G2 Intel I7's (Sandy Bridge) you can save a little with the G73JW-3DE

eh, BD and HDs aren't really an issue, those can be changed later.

It's the screen. If you like the matte screen, get it.

I suppose they would matter, but since the OP is talking about the A1 vs 3DE model, and they have similar configurations, it seems redundant. Maybe if you were comparing the 3DE to a bestbuy version ...

I bought SW-3DE mostly for the matte screen. My last HP laptop with glossy screen drove me crazy. The screen is definitely very bright and clear. The viewing angel is not as good as I wanted, but I'm a little picky. I can see some colors a bit off from about 45 degrees off center. I've never seen an A1 screen, so I can't compare with that. For me, $200 over A1 is a no brainer. I would probably buy the XA1 model which is more than $500 less than 3DE if not for the matte screen.
