    Hi,

I just received my G73SW-XT1 from Tiger Direct and when I opened it up I noticed that there are only 2 memory slots instead of 4 which was the advertised specs. I called up both Asus and Tiger Direct I did not get a straight answer.

I was wondering if I am the only one or there are others who have the same peculiar situation.

Well the A1 had 3 slots on one side of the board and another on the other. Not sure on that though.

The circuit city page which should be exactly the same as tigerdirect shows 2 sticks visible with the bottom off... jus saying.

How many gigs of ram installed? Should be 8 gigs.On the back cover yes you only can see 2 modules of 2 gigs each that you can replace easy, now underneath those 2 you should see another memory stick that I'm not sure how to replace, plus underneath the keyboard is the other one.

Yeah, there is only 2 slots near the hdd bay, and then the rest are under the kb/you can see 1 memory module just like BoricaUSA said, I took pics, just let me upload them right quick.

But in CPUz, you can also see that this laptop has 4dimms by seeing that all 4 dimms are filled with 2gb sticks.

OP, I know that you said that you checked but I would say to check again.
It might be that you can't see all the available slots or that some are empty.

One thing that you can try is to download CPU-Z and look at the memory tab it will tell you how many slots you have and what size modules are installed in each slot.

    http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Also check your owner's manual. It should have instructions in there on how to upgrade each slot.

    EDIT: sorry, I meant CPU-Z

CPU-z might report empty slots, but the rails may not be attached on the mobo...

The G73SW-A1 here I believe has 2 slots on one side, and 2 on the other.

I got mine from Compusa a week ago and went on Saturday to have 4 x 4GB new RAM fitted - took them 1.5 hours and cost $59.99 + cost of RAM.

I looked at doing it myself, but felt the risk of problems was not worth the cost of them doing it.

    Just my .02
