I re-installed my operating system and upgraded to windows 7 ultimate 64. but now for some odd reason I have a very very strange video playback issue

while watching it seems any type of video file in any player I've tried a strange lag occurs where the video totally freezes but the audio continues, and then the video runs at like 2 to 3x normal speed to catch up with the audio. Very annoying and it happens once ever 2 - 3 minutes sometimes.

I've tried a custom codec package. I also for a while thought it might have been the hard drive so I put files on my ssd and ran it off of that but still did the same thing. I've tried different drivers as well. I just can't seem to figure out what the issue is.

I noticed in nVidia control panel there was a deinterlacing filter called "use inverse telecine" and unchecking this did help a small amount but it did not totally resolve the issue. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

Right click the video and select settings and turn off ''Enable Hardware Acceleration''

Try that, if not I would say drivers or video codecs. Make sure you have the latest Xvid codecs installed especially if you are watching streamed movies.
