****11-10-10 Update*** SOLVED - Kaspersky Internet Security was culprit. Even when disabled it caused huge delay. Exiting the program completely = fixed.
--------------------
Hi all.. I installed Starcraft 2 on my G73jh last night. I noticed something really annoying... I tried googling this issue but couldn't find anything. The deal is, when entering the game (after logging in) at the main screen it takes about 5 seconds before it lists the "news". Not a huge deal, and maybe this is normal... However...
When clicking "multiplayer" at the top it takes almost 2 MINUTES before the quickmatch buttons appear. My friend with his non-gaming toshiba laptop got right in without a wait.
I know this can't be normal. I'm currently running 10.6 catalyst drivers. Could it be a vid driver issue? Almost seems like a network thing.
I appreaciate your thoughts on this.

My thought would post in a BLIZZARD or STARCRAFT 2 support forum for this. It's seriously not a G73jh issue or an AMD issue. Who else would know more about why BlizzNet 2.0 isn't working for you right than Blizzard?
The only issue for Starcraft 2 and AMD/G73jh would have been the Anti-Aliasing issue where that was fixed with 10.7. And believe there was some issue where something was showing right, but again, fixed in 10.7. But for menu/match making, sorry that is not a ATi or G73jh issue. -
I had the same issue... Its related to having stuff like AA and AF handled by the card instead of the application. That fixed it for me just set the quality on balanced on the card make sure everything is application managed and SC2 should run smooth on any settings.

Mine loads fine with everything on max settings.

Well after all the issues I've already had with the G73, I assumed this was another. Especially since two other computers at my place run SC2 without an issue. I think it may be safe to assume its not my router/gateway. -

Just an idea, maybe it's a firewall or antivirus program blocking your network connection...

I have the same problem with my netbook. Did you check background processes? Firewall? What A/V are you using? Because Bnet loads fine, but the p2p part takes forever to load ... that's a network concern, and I'd blame other processes (not hardware).

sounds like slow internet to me, i get that sometimes on college

@ DCx and ALLurGroceries. After reading your post I got to thinking about my Kaspersky AV. I've had an issue before with it blocking connecting to an audio streaming site. I forgot to mention in my original post that I DID disable the AV .I typcially can set it to "disabled" mode and do what I need to do. I had assumed that using this feature actually disabled the AV software. (hah!)
well.. I CLOSED out of the program completely and Starcraft 2 now works without a hitch! I should have known.. these AV programs get thier grubby hands into all parts of the OS and can raelly muck things up!
Thanks for the thoughts and ideas everyone! -

You should be able to whitelist/make an exception for SC2 in the Kaspersky settings, I don't know for sure though, glad you found the problem at least.
G73jh + Starcraft 2 = laggy menus?
