List a few of the main games you play, the settings they are on, and what your fps is roughly. Just curious at what other people with this laptop are getting for performance.

A lot of games I play have all the settings maxed out. I'm not a big fan of anti-alias settings. I can't really tell a difference with it on or off in most games, but that's just me. I've played Arkham Asyslum, Fallout 3, Dragon Age: Origins, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, and Torchlight so far. Perhaps a couple others too. I have a big backlog of games that I haven't gotten around to as of yet.

The only game so far that I couldn't max out was Crysis. I ran it with a -dx9 switch I think. You can't tell a difference really for that game since it wasn't optimized for DX10 anyway. I ran it with that switch and everything set to High at 1920X1080 and it ran smooth but you could tell that if it was a few frames slower it would've looked bad so I would say it was right on the edge. I played it all the way through to the end and it was a great experience. The FPS was good enough but could've been faster if that makes sense.

As far as all the other games, they run so fast that I have to turn on Vsync so I don't get screen tearing. No complaints for playing games whatsoever. I've even played quite a bit while I had a Windows XP virtual machine running in the background with 2GB of RAM dedicated to it. The games ran silky smooth even with the VM running. I have played a few older games like Diablo and the original StarCraft in a Windows XP virtual machine because they don't look great on Windows 7. They also ran just fine.

I've played some PSX games in an emulator with upgraded shaders and they run smoothly. Furthermore, with the ATI Radeon shaders installed, they looked 10 times better than the original game ever did when I played it on the TV set.

Honest to god I don't monitor the FPS for like 95% of the games I play lol. With that said, the few I have bothered to look at like Resident Evil 5, Dragon Age, Devil May Cry, Left 4 Dead, etc. have all run at 60 frames easily maxed out at 1600x900 with 8X AA. Everything else I play run really nice and smooth also so I expect similar results. I never turn off AA, the games run so super smooth even with it on so I see no real point plus I can tell the difference very easily.

Played the following games with Max Settings with smooth FPS:
    1. Arkham Asylum
    2. Assassins Creed II
    3. Mass Effect 2
    4. Singularity (perhaps one of the most underrated games of 2010)
    5. COD: MW2
    6. Half Life Ep2

Games with close to max. details:
    1. GTA IV - Episodes from Liberty City
    2. Just Cause 2
    3. Star Craft 2 (Very High alternating to Ultra on smaller maps)

    Happy Gaming!

Good to know people are getting rockstar results. Just been curious if my machines been stackin up properly compared to others. Cryisis warheads on gamer in dx9 i think im close to 40fps and it drops to 30 if its enthusiest settings which it tends to dip below and causes slow down. Im looking into getting Xconfig for that installed tonight

I play FFXIV on default settings which are high , and it runs smooth only lags in high dense areas due to server not game.. I hope :)

I don't really monitor FPS anymore, but here's a rundown of what settings I use in various games I play in order to get it to run as smoothly as possible (I always stick with 0xAA and 8xAF):

Bad Company 2: all settings maxed, HBAO off, 1920x1080

Crysis: all settings maxed except shadows at medium, 1680x1050 (slight stuttering at times), DX10 mode

Modern Warfare 2: all settings maxed, 1920x1080

Batman AA: all settings maxed, 1920x1080, Physx off

Starcraft 2: all settings maxed, 1920x1080 (single player campaign)

Devil May Cry 4: all settings maxed, 1920x1080, DX10 mode

Civilization V: DX11 mode - all settings maxed including tessellation, 1920x1080 (single player, medium maps, have yet to try larger ones)

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light: all settings maxed, 1920x1080

I've also got Dragon Age installed but I've yet to start the game since I'm still trying to finish up Star Ocean for the PS3 before starting another RPG.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with the G73's performance. Being able to max out settings in most current games so far with a few exceptions, I think it's still got enough power to run future games.

Crysis - Very High (No AA, don't really care about AA), 1600 x 900 (Native) @ smooth enough for me.
    Just Cause 2 - Everything "On" or "Very High", excluding AA (again, don't care), 1600 x 900 (Native) @ 25 - 50 FPS, avg 35.
STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl - I don't think I even need to say much about this, lol.
Crysis Warhead - Haven't benched, but sits around the same as Crysis.

Yes. Alternates between 35 - 30 FPS at 1920 * 1080. Finished the whole game, did not experience any stutter whatsoever. I'm using the 10.6 and stock vbios and stock clocks with 209 bios. Temps do go up to 88C, reminding me ever so often that I need a repaste :|

PRO TIP: If you are using VSync, grab RiverTuner's D3DOverrider and run that before starting a game. This will enable triple buffering for DirectX and should give similar results as having VSync Off, but without the tearing.

For example: Dragon Age w/o it runs at 30fps. With it I get about 44fps.

Borderlands with max everything, I get smooth rates all day long. Never looked at what the FPS really was as it never seemed I needed to. Never notice a stutter even in the thickest battles. I'll see if I can find the FPS command and look at it while looting this week

FFXIV - All Settings Max // 45-50FPS in field // 28-35FPS in busy towns
FFXI - 25.7FPS stuck (30FPS cap), if anyone can help me fix this issue, I'd love you forever!

Is the RiverTuner's D3DOverrider the same as putting the triple buffer on in the catalyst control center?

No, the setting in CCC is for OpenGL only. Thus the reason the app was made. :)

I didn't say you needed the whole RivaTuner install. Just the D3DOverrider. You can save it and run it as a solo application.
